1. Launch the Samsung bada IDE
2. Select File, New, bada Application Project

Once you have selected a new project:

1. Name your project
2. Select Project Type as bada Flash Base Application
3. Select Next

Next steps define your bada C++ classes:

1. Enter the Form Name: here you can enter what you would like for example Flash Form
2. Now browse to the Flash Lite application swf file

At this point you are pretty much done. There are more details that you can enter by going to the next wizard pages.

It’s very easy to create a “launcher” bada application for your Flash Lite content and you are almost ready to sell content for the Samsung bada platform.

OVI Store supports Flash Lite content for Nokia S60 and Nokia S40. Packaging has 2 main option based on the platform:

• Nokia S60: Flash Lite Online Packager (.sis)
• Nokia S40: Nokia Flash Lite .nfl (basically a zip file)

Also OVI Publisher is open to individual and with the new beta program Symbian Signed is free.

Flash Lite versions: there are 4 (soon 5) different version of Flash Lite supported by Nokia devices. Some developers might think this is an issue, but instead can create a nice distribution opportunity. For example if you create a Flash Lite 2.0 game (for 240×320 resolution) you can distribute it and sell it globally via OVI Store on all Nokia S60 and Nokia S40 devices that supports Flash Lite 2.0, Flash Lite 2.1, Flash Lite 3.0.

Also the opportunity for Nokia S60 5th Edition with Flash Lite 3.0 can be extended to new Nokia Symbian^3 devices such as the Nokia N8 which supports Flash Lite 4.0. So all content created for Nokia touch devices will work on the new Symbian^3 devices.

Now that there will be the new Symbian^3 OS in the coming months again I am pushing for the request to have Flash Lite content be packaged using Nokia Flash Lite packaging .nfl file format.

This format is already used on Nokia S40 5th FP1 Ed and later, it’s basically a zip file that contains the swf and every files you need for your application including the icon.

I know there was some discussion sometime ago about issue on using this format on Nokia Symbian 5th Ed devices since Flash Lite has been extended to use Platform Services and API Bridge which allows Flash Lite content to use sensitive APIs. When you package Flash Lite content into a sis file you can set capabilities so that you make the user aware that your application might use certain APIs.

Now, my suggestion is to add the Nokia Flash Lite packaging solution to Symbian^3 and leave to the developer the issue of deciding which packaging to use. So if an application will use those capabilities it would be better to use the sis installer, otherwise a developer can use the .nfl packaging.

This will allows many Flash Lite developers to provide more content for the OVI Store on Nokia Symbian devices.
