Tutorial: Jarpa packaging for Flash Lite

Thomas posted a cool tutorial on how to setup the development enviroment and tips for Jarpa. The Jarpa framework allows to extend the capabilities of Flash Lite content using J2ME. It first allows you to package Flash Lite content into a jar file, which is the main advantage of Jarpa.
Remember that Adobe has in the works a similar solution called swf2jar to package Flash Lite content into jar files.

Just wanted to wish everyone Happy Holiday !!

This year has been great and I am sure 2008 will be even better. I wanted to say a big “Ciao” to everyone I met and continue to meet around Flash Lite. One message to all Flash Lite developers: “Keep it up!!”

Beside daily work I have been involved with many projects, WURFL (Ciao Luca!) and Jarpa (Ciao Felipe!). Also some trips for presentations

3GSM in Barcelona (great memories with bunch of Flash Lite gurus and beers!! 01Design, BlueSkyNorth, Nick)
Forum Nokia Champions Day in Singapore
Several presentations at local Universities
Adobe MAX 2007 in Chicago (thanks to all the Mobile and Devices team!!)

A note on Adobe MAX, it was great to speak at MAX with Dale (the Moket Dude!!), the Nokia Chalk Talks (thanks to all the Forum Nokia team) and the first Mobile and Devices Boot Camp (thanks to Adobe for the opportunity) ! Also a shout to all the managers of the Adobe Mobile and Devices User groups, Mariam, Dale, Matt, Marcos, Raul, Giorgio, Felipe, Luciano and Kirk. These people are doing a great job for the Flash Lite developer community. A thanks to the Boston local Flash Lite developers who show up at meetings and bar hopping!!! A thank to all the Flash Lite developers that daily share their knowledge with me.
Plus the Boston Adobe Mobile and Devices User Group (planning more for 2008!) and Mobile Monday Boston are keeping me busy!
Looking forward to 2008 !! And looking forward to do some snowboarding!!!

Jarpa: Java Packaging for Flash Lite Developers

Here is the big news from Felipe, Jarpa packaging environment for Flash Lite developer. Most of the effort goes to Felipe who did a great job on figuring out the core code!! So, Felipe, great work!!!

Basically you can create a Jar file to install Flash Lite content. It’s a great tool, since now Flash Lite developers will be able to install Flash Lite content on different platforms such as S60, S40, Sony Ericsson and other OEM.

It’s an Open Source project so everyone is welcome to contribute and make the tool better!! So if you are interested please join the project.

There will be more testing needed for other platforms, so developers are welcome with ideas and testing to improve the tool!!
