1Billion app downloads over the Holidays!

Via EngadgetMobile, looks like mobile application usage is exploding since over the holidays there were more than 1 Billion downloads on the various mobile application stores.
These are impressive numbers but also pose a challange for developers. On one side is a great opportunity but on the other is a very difficult business to be in.

Nokia N9 update v20.2011.40-4 available

Today a nice surprise, the Nokia N9 received an update v20.2011.40-4. A notification appeared on the screen and via the Application manager you can download the update wchich included many applications update. The update was simple and without any issues. Other applications received also an update.

Nokia Store from Nokia Beta Labs available for testing

Nokia Beta Labs released a new Nokia Store client for some devices and they are looking for feedback.
The Nokia Store is a QML client and it’s available for the following devices: Nokia C6-01, C7-00, C7 Astound, E7-00, N8-00, X7-00.

Nokia T7 and Nokia 702T, Flash Lite 4.0 enabled

The Nokia devloper site has published the details for 2 new handsets for the Chinise market, the Nokia T7 and Nokia 702T which are both Flash Lite 4.0 enabled devices. Basically these phones are the N8 and E6 but for Chinese wireless network.

Nokia N5, N6-01 and N6-02 on the way?

There some leaked pictures and information about 3 new devices from Nokia, Nokia N5, N6-01 and N6-02.
Looks like these phones are all Symbian^3 sporting the latest Symbian OS. Looking forward! Also it loos like they are all Flash Lite 4.0 enabled devices.

Nokia Symbian Anna available in July

Nokia Symbian Anna firmware update will be available in July.

“At Nokia Connection, Nokia also restated its commitment to Symbian. Nokia’s CEO Stephen Elop said in his keynote that over the next 12 months the company plans to bring up to 10 new Symbian-based smartphones to market.”

Nokia N9 announced, MeeGo 1.2 device

Nokia today announced their new device Nokia N9. The device uses a swipe gesture for the entire UI and it’s based on MeeGo 1.2.
Here are the specs on Nokia Developer site. It seems at the moment with no Flash technology.
