Flash Lite packaging (NFL) for Nokia Series 40 and OMA DRM 1.0 Forward Lock

Bill posted a step by step description of how to create a NFL (Nokia Flash Lite) packaging for the Nokia S40 5th Edition FP1. Pretty easy to create such packaging.

Now the document also mention that you can apply OMA DRM 1.0 Forward Lock to protect the Flash Lite content.

So I gave it a try using Bill’s packaged content and it works as expected.

So here are the steps to apply OMA DRM 1.0 Forward Lock:

  1. Package your Flash Lite content by following the document description
  2. Use the NMIT 4.1 tool to apply OMA DRM 1.0 Forward Lock to the .nfl file, here is a step by step tutorial
  3. Use application/vnd.nokia.flashlite-archive as content-type in the NMIT ToolKit
  4. You basically create a .dm file from the .nfl package.
  5. You need to set application/vnd.nokia.flashlite-archive as supported MIME in your Web Server
  6. Upload your pakcaged content (.dm) to your Mobile Site and it’s ready for installation
  7. Once you download the content you will get an icon on the phone like the image below.

If you now try to send the content you will notice on the following image that the “Send” option is disabled.
