I would imagine that beyond cosmetic boundaries it was a simple decision of cost cutting to leave out the flash lite content?

Ciao,

sorry needed to be more clear on my post. Yes, my question is "Why there is no pre-instaleld Flash Lite content on Nokia S60?".

I noticed that new Nokia S40 have some Flash Lite content pre-installed, so I do not see any reason why S60 won't have it. I understand the business involved behind, S40 vs S60, but the reason of why people begin to use mobile content is because OEM/Operators started to pre-install content on phones.

I also understand that it's not an easy process to have content pre-installed for various reasons, but it's 2 years from the first Nokia S60 (Nokia 3250) with Flash Lite 1.1 launch and still so a single one have a piece of content to showcase the technology.

There is a already a S60 Theme that installs a Flash Lite screensaver, so why not having that one pre-installed? I personally think that there are plenty of cool screensavers/wallpaper/games out there, that can be easily selected by both Nokia and Adobe.

Having a icon that does not do anything is not fun!! I get asked that many times question from friends and I do not have an answer, other then bluetoothing them some Flash Lite content and hear "WOW !! This is cool!! Send me more!!"

Not sure what you're referring to Alessandro. On other Nokia S60 devices I'm not aware of Flash Lite content (SWF) files being pre-installed. Typically the "Flash Player" icon when launched will show the user any SWF files that are available on the phone's memory or memory card (if the device supports memory cards).

Agreed that having Flash Lite content pre-installed on a device would be good and it's something we're working with Nokia and other OEMs on doing. If you or others have great content - send it to me and we'll see what we can do.

Your question being that "Why there is no pre-installed Flash Lite content on the phone"? Is that what you mean?

It is a combination of many issues, like monetary costs, memory costs, user requirements, cool content (relevant to many people), etc... so you there is no single answer for that question.
