Nokia N91 Flash Lite 1.1 browser behavior!!

I did a couple of quick tests on my Nokia N91 with the Flash Lite 1.1 in the browser. When accessing Flash Lite 1.1 content on the browser the two soft buttons have the following functionalities: “Options” (left soft buttons) and “Back” (right soft button).

The “Options” opens a menu, and at the top there is a “Open in viewer” fuctionality. Selecting this function will open the Flash Lite 1.1 content into a pseudo standalone Flash Lite 1.1 player, I think is still the browser Flash Lite 1.1 player since I tried to run a Flash Lite application at the same time with the standalone player and they did not conflict.

Note, this content is cached under c:\system\temp, file is renamed with temp prefix, but it can be run in the standalone player.

If you do not reset the soft  buttons inside your Flash Lite 1.1 content, the left soft button opens a menu which has the “Save” option. You can save the swf to the phone. This means that any Flash Lite 1.1 content accessed through the browser can be saved to the phone.

At this point I tried to play with the soft buttons in the Flash Lite 1.1 content. I reset them so that the left soft button will get the IMEI and the right soft button would get the version of the Flash Lite player.

Well, surprise!! Flash Lite 1.1 content in the web page does not allow to use buttons directly but you need to press the joystick (as you would press the enter button). At this point the Flash Lite is under focus and can execute button actions.

Now since I reset the soft buttons, the browser “Options” and “Back” are not anymore functioning. Actually the left label became “Cancel“.

So selecting the right soft buton retreived the version of the player, selecting the  left soft button retreived the IMEI number of the phone.

Double surprise!! No Warning message from the phone for accessing the IMEI number, just a sound!! Is this a BUG?! Same story if I opened the content in the viewer.

Well, long post. I will try to make a video and post it!!
